I bought Metals Technic when I was 16 and it’s been a favorite book of mine since. Edited by Tim McCreight, Metals Technic comprises of 12 articles that “represent the research, creativity and generosity of a dozen metalsmiths.” I used the page that the book is open to as a guide for making the mallets and forming stakes shown nearby. These tools are made of polyethylene to shape the metal without marking it. Tools can certainly be purchased, but it’s definitely nice to be able to make what you need when you need it.
